Ernie got moved today...The insurance paid for the better rehab place.
http://www.braintreerehabhospital.com/ He gets cable, wifi, free local calls...my Goddess, it's like a hotel!!! Except for the PT. So we called his parents from my cellphone and told them that he was moved...and gave them the room number and the phone number. They called the house and were all in a panic because they thought the hospital was calling because something had gone wrong...Then they called the rehab room and they were talking to him like it was they didn't know who he was and like he was an employee...he finally had to ask them who they thought they were talking to because they were really talking to him!!ARGH!!! They had him all upset...so I called them when I got home and let them have it...I mean he repeated the number twice and said that HE was calling and giving them the number...I mean ARGH!!!! I'm going up after supper and bringing him his laptop. I also have to call his sister and give her his number. No other plans for the weekend, though...maybe sleeping... |

Thanks, Blaze.
My Aunt was at this place when she was recovering from her stroke a couple of years ago...I need to call her too: I just haven't haven't had the patience...I'll do that tomorrow because I'm gonna give myself some much needed rest...I'm sitting in the hospital bed with my laptop watching the Sox/Yankees game LOL My IL's called last night wondering what the matter was because they couldn't get through to him...Holy fucking shit people!! Ernie gave them the number twice! We gave it to them again!! Didn't they write it down??? they were punching in a 2 instead of the correct 3... My SIL called and wanted to know what was up and I basically told her that her parents need to be tied into chairs and fucking spoonfed because they should'nt be allowed out loose... I was in bed by 9, got up to pee at 5 and DS was on the computer already saying that he wasn't tired, couldn't sleep etc...he's still asleep now...Wish I still had Slifer; I'd drop her ontop of him and, with one HOOO! he'd be up PDQ! LOL I still have to call my Aunt...I haven't had the emotional fortitude to have to fucking deal with her too. Ernie called at 8:30 this morning...an OT was supposed to be coming in and helping him wash up and stuff... |

I went to the museum for lunch a couple of days ago and couldn't resist getting this head of Aphrodite for the bedroom--a fitting place for the Goddess of
Love to reside.
The model for the original was Phryne, the famous Greek courtesan. Phryne (Φρύνη) was a famous hetaera (courtesan) of Ancient Greece (4th century BC) who adjusted her prices for customers depending upon how she felt about them emotionally. As accounts portray her, she always had her price, and if the customer met it, she would uphold her end of the bargain. Early life Her real name was Mnesarete (Ancient Greek Μνησαρετή (commemorating virtue)), but owing to her yellowish complexion she was called Phryne (toad), a name given to other courtesans. She was born at Thespiae in Boeotia, but seems to have lived at Athens. She acquired so much wealth by her extraordinary beauty that she offered to rebuild the walls of Thebes, which had been destroyed by Alexander the Great (336 BC), on condition that the words destroyed by Alexander, restored by Phryne the courtesan, were inscribed upon them. The authorities turned down her offer. She was famously beautiful. On the occasion of a festival of Poseidon at Eleusis, she laid aside her garments, let down her hair, and stepped nude into the sea in the sight of the people, thus suggesting to the painter Apelles his great picture of Aphrodite Anadyomene (also portrayed at times as this Venus Anadyomene), for which Phryne herself sat as model, and other works of art from the period are alleged to be modeled after Phryne. Due to her beauty, she also inspired the much later painting by artist Jean-Léon Gérôme, Phryné devant l'Areopage, (Phryne before the Areopagus, 1861) as well as other works of art throughout history. She was also (according to some) the model for the statue of the Aphrodite of Knidos by Praxiteles. In literary world, Charles Baudelaire in his poems Lesbos and La beauté and Rainer Maria Rilke in his poem Die Flamingos were inspired by beauty and fame of Phryne. When accused of profaning the Eleusinian mysteries, she was defended by the orator Hypereides, one of her lovers. When it seemed as if the verdict would be unfavourable, he tore open her robe and displayed her breasts, which so moved her judges that they acquitted her. According to others, she herself removed her clothing. The judges' change of heart was not simply because they were overcome by the beauty of her nude body, but because physical beauty was often seen as a facet of divinity or a mark of divine favor during those times. A statue of Phryne, the work of Praxiteles, was placed in a temple at Thespiae by the side of a statue of Aphrodite by the same artist. When the King of Lydia wanted her favors she named a truly absurd price because she considered him loathsome; however, he wanted her so badly that he paid her price, she gave herself to him, and he then levied a tax on his subjects to replace the sum.[citation needed] On the other hand, she gave herself to the philosopher Diogenes of Sinope for free because she admired his mind. Diogenes Laertius narrates a failed attempt Phryne made on the virtue of the philosopher Xenocrates.[1] Dimitris Varos, Greek poet and writer, wrote a book called Phryne.

Yes, it came mounted on that base. It's an exact reproduction of an Ancient Greek original. Amazing eh?

Well, Yuku (our service provider here at the board) has software that enables it. I know some people do find it confusing at first--I just thought it was funny
that this person we don't even know signs up and then makes one post saying they aren't staying LOL. People are strange sometimes
