I just heard on CNN that the Venezualan Congress closely allied with Hugo Chavez is going to ante up $20 million for two Danny Glover productions.
They include "The General in His Labyrinth," a dramatization of the life of South American liberator Simon Bolivar. It is based on a novel by Colombian Nobel Prize-winning writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez and will be directed by Venezuela-born director Alberto Arvelo.
The other is "Toussaint," a biopic about Haitian revolution leader Toussaint Louverture (I was just reading about this guy the other day--a *very*
interesting story)
Both of these productions sound very promising but what do y'all think about the fact that Glover is doing business with Chavez who is all but an
officially declared enemy of the US and has been accused *numerous* times of human rights abuses?
